Digital transformation in construction by two young IT professionals
Dieudonné Bedoumé and Jerry Ngono develop and use digital tools to improve operational management within a construction and public works company in the Damas neighborhood of Yaounde, where they work as IT professionals.
Inside what Jerry Ngono describes as a small office equipped with a desktop computer, administrative files, and mobile devices, both professionals coordinate part of the company’s daily activities. One works on a laptop while the other uses a smartphone to access and transmit operational data. This setup reflects a hybrid use of digital tools in managing construction workflows.
Their work focuses on construction site data management. They design tracking systems, centralize information, and improve communication between technical and administrative teams.
« These tools help us reduce delays in information sharing and make coordination easier between teams », explains Dieudonné Bedoumé to Nicescoop.
It was revealed to Nicescoop that, these tools allow faster access to information and help structure tasks more efficiently. They also improve data flow within the company while remaining adapted to local technical constraints and operational conditions in the construction sector.
This initiative might reflect a broader trend of digital development in Cameroon driven by young professionals integrating technology into traditional industries.
These young IT professionals are responsibleTec for monitoring data, updating operational systems, and managing the digital tools used by the company. Their role is integrated into the daily functioning of construction activities.
In the BTP sector, this gradual adoption of digital tools supports better organization, project monitoring, and coordination, aligned with on-the-ground realities.
